Tennis fans cannot believe what they are hearing about Gael Monfils, ‘completely shocked’

Tennis star Gael Monfils has surprised fans by appearing on the International Tennis Integrity Agency's retired players list. The move suggests an abrupt end to his professional career without a formal farewell tour.
Why it matters
Monfils is a highly popular figure in tennis, and his sudden retirement without a final home-court appearance has sparked significant discussion among fans and the sports community.
Gael Monfils has shocked tennis fans after his name appeared on the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) Retired Players List.
Monfils is playing his final season in professional tennis before retirement, which now looks to have come much sooner than expected. Many were expecting the ATP icon to take on the Paris Masters on home soil in early November, but that seemingly won't be the case.
As stated by the ITIA, those on the Retired Players List have "declared themselves retired from the sport and may not return to sanctioned events unless they have made themselves available for out-of-competition testing for at least six months prior to the event in question".
