Telangana SIR: 8.38 lakh claims, objections received by ECI so far

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has so far received a total 8,38,558 application forms as part of the Claims & Objections phase which is set to end on October 7.

Of these, more than half are for fresh enrolment, while corrections too form a large chunk. Applications for deletions are not very high.

A total 4,43,705 applications are for fresh enrolment through Form-6, while 3,57,898 are for correction through Form-8, says the data shared by Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy. Applications for deletion, via Form-7, amount to 30,676, while 6,279 applications pertain to enrolment of Non Resident Indians through Form-6A.

The processing of these applications is progressing at a snail’s pace, with 8,14,160 applications still pending. Of these, 6,49,085 are pending for 45 days or more.
