Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha announced that the State government will introduce a new policy aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure across tribal areas , with a focus on improving access to medical services in remote regions without relying solely on population-based norms.
Chairing a review meeting with legislators from Bhadradri Kothagudem district and senior officials in Hyderabad on Wednesday (July 15, 2026), the Minister said government hospitals in tribal areas would be developed based on the needs of local communities and their proximity to healthcare facilities. He said new sub-centres and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) would be sanctioned wherever required, while existing PHCs, Community Health Centres (CHCs) and area hospitals would be upgraded in a phased manner.
