Telangana People’s Front seeks three urgent interventions to save education system
The Telangana People’s Front has petitioned the state government to implement urgent reforms to address the failing public education system. Their demands include a fee regulatory commission for private schools and increased budget allocation for public education.
Why it matters
The advocacy highlights the tension between private and public education funding and the government's ability to meet its election manifesto promises.
Telangana People’s Front (TPF), led by former bureaucrats and civil society leaders, including former Telangana Education Commission chairperson Akunuri Murali, wrote to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) seeking urgent intervention to save the public education system in the State.
It observed that the state of education system in the State was akin to being a patient in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The letter follows TPF’s recently concluded Vidya Bus Yatra, which toured 10 erstwhile districts in the State, where its committee members spoke to parents, students, and various stakeholders in roundtable discussions to understand and note their concerns. Between September 15 and 29, it visited 20 government schools and several private schools, conducted village meetings, and the senior and core committee leaders slept on school premises as part of Badi Nidra.
