Telangana government approves guidelines for regulating temporary and hyper-local advertisements in CURE

The Telangana government has introduced new regulations for temporary and hyper-local advertisements in the Core Urban Region (CURE). The policy mandates online booking, specific size limits, and strict prohibitions against placing ads on public infrastructure like trees or traffic signals.
Why it matters
This regulatory framework aims to curb visual pollution and ensure public safety by formalizing the process for small-scale advertising in urban areas.
The Telangana government has approved guidelines for regulating temporary and hyper-local advertisements in the Core Urban Region (CURE), allowing such advertisements to be booked online through designated locations.
The guidelines, approved by the Advertisement Regulatory Committee during a meeting held on September 9, 2026, provide for a ward-level Advertisement Nodal Officer in each ward to identify locations for temporary and hyper-local advertising. Around five to 10 locations will be earmarked for temporary advertisements and 25 to 50 for hyper-local advertisements, which will be approved by the Deputy Commissioner concerned and made available for online booking.
Hyperlocal advertising will cover notices such as tuition-class announcements, rental notices, missing person or dog notices, tournament invitations and social programmes.
