The Telangana Food Safety Department seized 110 kg of sev and 40 litres of cooking oil from a food manufacturing unit in Karmanghat, Hyderabad, during an inspection on Friday (July 24) after officials detected multiple food safety and hygiene violations.
According to the department, Food Safety Officers inspected M/s Ashoksingh Foods and found that the establishment was manufacturing sev despite holding only a retailer registration obtained through the Tatkal registration process. The department said that the unit had declared itself as a retailer while obtaining the registration instead of registering as a manufacturer.
The inspection also revealed several violations, including the suspected use of synthetic food colours, repeated use of cooking oil, unsafe food handling practices and poor sanitation at the premises.
