The Telangana Pradesh Congress Seva Dal on Monday (October 5, 2026) organised a one-day s atyagraha at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad alleging that constitutional institutions and democratic values were under threat due to the actions of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central government.

The protest was led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Seva Dal president Middela Jitender, who demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Adviser to Government on welfare V. Hanumanth Rao also participated in the Satyagraha.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Jitender alleged that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was used to remove the names of eligible voters , particularly those from poorer sections of society. He claimed that the exercise undermined citizens’ voting rights and posed a serious threat to the democratic process.
