Several senior Telangana Congress leaders, including Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, D. Sridhar Babu, Mohd Azharuddin, Adluri Laxman Kumar and Vakiti Srihari and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, were detained by the police on Thursday (October 8, 2026) when they attempted to march towards Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The Ministers continued their protest at the Police Station with large number of activists joining them.
The ‘Chalo Lok Bhavan’ protest was part of the INDIA bloc’s ‘Save Democracy’ campaign against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and its political associates Communist Party of India (CPI), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and other parties participated.
