Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed profound grief over the demise of veteran actor and Padma Shri recipient Sankaramanchi Janaki, aka ‘Sowcar’ Janaki, on Friday (August 21, 2026). Along with Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam films, she acted in Telugu movies as well.
Stating that Sowcar Janaki , who began her career in childhood by portraying various roles in plays, left her indelible mark on the film industry for nearly seven decades, the Chief Minister recalled how she demonstrated unparalleled talent in the film ‘Shavukaru’ and established herself as Sowcar Janaki.
He remarked that the void she left in the film industry is irreplaceable. Praying that God grant her eternal peace, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences and deepest sympathies to her family members and fans.
