Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud claimed that the Congress government had accorded highest priority to sports development and was committed to making Telangana a leading State in the country in the field.
Participating in a discussion in the Legislative Council, Mr. Goud said the allocation of ₹1,500 crore for sports in the State budget was evidence of the government’s commitment to the sector. He said the government was also taking steps to establish a sports university in Telangana, which he claimed would be a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country.
