Telangana ACB arrests Achampet treasury office senior accountant for taking ₹25,000 bribe

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, October 6, arrested a senior accountant attached to the Sub-Divisional Treasury Office in Achampet of Nagarkurnool district for allegedly demanding and accepting ₹25,000 bribe to process a government employee’s medical leave and related bills and allowances.
According to the ACB, the accused officer, K. Venkataiah, allegedly demanded ₹25,000 from the complainant in return for doing the official favour. The complainant initially paid ₹3,000 in cash on August 14. The remaining ₹22,000 was subsequently transferred to the accused through PhonePe on August 18..
A case of criminal misconduct was registered against Venkataiah and he was produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
