Telangana health authorities have detected regulatory violations at 50 private fertility centres during inspections of 379 centres, prompting the cancellation of registrations of two centres and temporary suspension of permissions of nine others.
The violations came to light during inspections to check compliance with Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and surrogacy laws, with authorities finding issues including unauthorised changes in staff, improper maintenance of records, failure to display registration certificates, absence of grievance cells and centres operating from addresses different from those registered with the authorities.
Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, who reviewed the functioning of government and private fertility and IVF centres at the Secretariat in Hyderabad on Monday (August 31, 2026), directed officials to take legal action against centres violating regulations.
