A 17-year-old girl reportedly died by suicide at her relatives’ house in Baireddipalle mandal of Chittoor district in the early hours of Monday (July 27, 2026), the police said.
The girl was from Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu . The police said she was related to a minor from the village, and that the two families had been discussing a marriage between them.
The death led to tension in the village, and family members and residents gathered at the house. The police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
