Teenage wushu athlete tears up, alleges mental harassment after Asian Games snub

18-year-old Indian wushu athlete Divyanshi has alleged that she was subjected to months of mental harassment after being removed from India's Asian Games squad at the last minute. In a nearly nine-minute video posted on Friday, September 11, the teenager said she was “extremely fed up” with what had happened and questioned why she was not given a chance to present her side before being dropped from the 60kg Sanda category.Divyanshi was replaced in the Asian Games squad by Roshibina Devi, the 2022 Asian Games silver medallist whom she had defeated in the selection trials. Her removal came just days before the Indian contingent is set to leave for Japan, with the Wushu Federation citing that Divyanshi was physically unfit to take part in the Games.The extent of Divyanshi's distress became clear when she said that the alleged harassment had left her seeing no point in living any more.
