Teenage boy, 16, killed in e-bike hit-and-run incident in Co Clare named locally

    A 16-year-old boy who died following a hit-and-run incident in Co Clare on Friday night has been named locally as Bryan Lowe from Cloonlara and Westbury, south-east Clare.

The teenager was found unresponsive at the roadside shortly after 11pm on Friday following a collision involving the e-bike he was riding.

The incident happened on the L3050 at Cottage Cross near Cloonlara, close to the Clare - Limerick border.

Gardaí said a second vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.

The teenage boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed following the collision and local diversions were put in place to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

The coroner has been notified and an autopsy is due to take place.

The boy’s family posted photographs of him and said they were devastated by news of his sudden death.
