Ted Lasso Sends Justin Bieber Out on the World Cup Field for ‘Everything Hallelujah’ in 2026 Halftime Show
During the 2026 World Cup halftime show, actor Jason Sudeikis appeared in character as Ted Lasso to introduce Justin Bieber. Bieber performed the song 'Everything Hallelujah' as part of a star-studded musical lineup at the final in New Jersey.
Why it matters
The integration of popular television characters and global music stars into major sporting events reflects the evolving nature of sports entertainment and cross-media marketing.
Justin Bieber got a pep talk from Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Halftime Show. In between superstar music performances at the Spain vs. Argentina match on Sunday (July 19), Lasso walked the stadium with the Apple TV+ series' Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) with commentary on how the entertainment was going so far — and then put Bieber on the field to serenade the world with "Everything Hallelujah."
"Coach, I gotta say, first half of halftime knocked my darn socks off," said Lasso, as played by Sudeikis in the surprise appearance by the Ted Lasso actors at New York New Jersey Stadium (aka MetLife Stadium) in East Rutherford, N.J. "How the heck is anyone gonna follow all that?"
