Berlin, Germany | AGENCIES | TECNO has spent years building its name in the fiercely competitive smartphone market, particularly across emerging economies where aggressive pricing, design and an expanding product range have helped newer brands challenge long-established technology companies. Now, the company is attempting a different transition.
At IFA ShowStoppers 2026 in Berlin on Sept. 3, TECNO unveiled its first convertible touchscreen laptop series alongside two other MEGABOOK computers, a futuristic borderless concept phone and two upcoming smartphones.
On the surface, it was another technology showcase.
But the bigger story was the business strategy emerging behind the products.
TECNO is increasingly trying to turn itself from a smartphone-led brand into a broader personal technology company one that can sell consumers the devices they use to work, study, create and communicate, and increasingly connect those devices to one another.
