The African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES) has joined civil society organisations, Major Groups and other stakeholders from across Africa at a pre-regional consultation meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to strengthen African civil society perspectives on global climate and environmental negotiations.

The meeting was organised by WWF and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in collaboration with the Catholic Youth Network for Environmental Sustainability in Africa (CYNESA).

The consultation provided a platform for African civil society to deliberate on key issues relating to the three Rio Conventions, ongoing negotiations on the Global Plastics Treaty and the role of civil society in advancing multilateral environmental agreements, including the Minamata Convention.
