The body of a 30-year-old techie who drowned while swimming at a stone quarry near Yellammanadoddi, close to Jigani, was recovered on Sunday after a two-day search operation.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Anjaneya Vinay, 30, a native of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, who was working for a private software company in Bengaluru and was residing in Ulsoor.
Vinay had planned a trekking trip on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti holiday and had joined a group of eight people who came together through an Instagram group.
During the trek, the group went to a water-filled stone quarry to swim. According to the police, some members of the group, including young men and women, reportedly jumped into the quarry from the rocks and were swimming when Vinay suddenly drowned and went missing.
