Teacher accused in MDMA case released in police custody
A former teacher accused of acting as a financial intermediary for drug traffickers has been granted to police custody by a special court. The investigation aims to verify digital evidence and bank transactions linked to an MDMA distribution network.

The Vadakara Special Court (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Act Cases) on Thursday (August 6) granted police custody of K.C. Keerthana, a former teacher with the Perambra Block Resource Centre (BRC) and one of the five accused in the alleged MDMA case. Special investigation team members said she would remain in police custody until 5 p.m. on Friday (August 7).
The prosecution argued that the accused had direct links with the alleged drug syndicate and sought her custody to facilitate further investigation, gather evidence, and identify others involved in the case.
Opposing the plea, the defence contended that conducting bank transactions was not an offence and maintained that the financial transaction in question amounted to only ₹5,000.
