TDB sets November 10 as deadline to complete works at Sabarimala

The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has set November 10 as the deadline for completing infrastructure works at Sabarimala, including Nilackal, Pampa, and Sannidhanam, ahead of the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage. Despite concerns over delays caused by procedural formalities and persistent rain, TDB president K. Jayakumar reviewed preparations for crowd management, waste management, and security, assuring there was no need for concern. The board also discussed equipping parking lots with AI-enabled cameras and increasing worker wages.
Why it matters
This matters for hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who visit Sabarimala annually, as timely completion of infrastructure ensures safety, smooth operations, and a better experience during the crowded pilgrimage season. It also highlights the challenges faced by religious boards in managing large-scale events and infrastructure projects.
