TCE’s TEDx brings varied perspectives on topic ‘We the system’
Thiagarajar College of Engineering hosted a TEDx event focused on the theme 'We the system,' highlighting the importance of individual contributions to societal safety and unity. Speakers discussed the role of ordinary citizens in building invisible safety nets and the significance of the Indian Constitution.

A TED X event titled ‘We are the system’ was organised at Thiagarajar College of Engineering here on Friday. The event brought together eminent professionals, entrepreneurs, authors, technologists, and student speakers.
K.P. Karthikeyan, Managing Director of ELCOT and an event speaker, noted that the invisible systems the people around us create make the world simpler and safer.
He highlighted the railway announcer Vishnu Zende at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) who courageously alerted the public about the terrorist firing at the cost of his own life.
Mr. Karthikeyan also commended A. Jawber Ali, the station master of Srivaikuntam Railway Station, whose quick thinking saved the lives of roughly 800 passengers on an express train during the December 2023 floods.
He also highlighted ‘Anbadum Mundril’, a student harmony initiative launched in Tirunelveli in 2023 to foster love, brotherhood, and unity following a series of caste-based student clashes in the district.
