Taylor Jenkins admits Bucks are “Far from where we need to be” after preseason loss to Timberwolves

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins expressed disappointment following a 116-97 preseason loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jenkins emphasized that the team has significant defensive improvements to make as they transition into a new era following Giannis Antetokounmpo's departure.
Why it matters
The Bucks are undergoing a major organizational shift, and early performance metrics under a new coach are critical indicators for the team's competitive future.
Taylor Jenkins' first preseason game with the Milwaukee Bucks offered an early glimpse of what the team will look like after Giannis Antetokounmpo's departure, but the results were far from encouraging. Milwaukee never found an answer for the Minnesota Timberwolves and fell 116-97 at home, with the lopsided loss prompting Jenkins to deliver some candid thoughts afterward.
Jenkins acknowledged that Milwaukee still has plenty to work on with the regular season only weeks away.
"Yeah, I mean I would say, definitely far from where we need to be," commented the Bucks head coach during his post-game availability.
"I felt like our defense was really lacking for 48 minutes. I know it's the first preseason game, but that's not an excuse…(We're) far from where we need to be."
