A Tasmanian mother and nurse has died in hospital days after a man who police say stabbed his partner fled the scene and crashed head on into the unrelated woman, who was driving home from work.
A fundraiser set up for crash victim Elaine Gee's family said she was a mother of two boys, aged six and 10, and had worked at Launceston General Hospital for 20 years.
The man, who also died in the crash, and his female partner were visiting the state from Western Australia. The stabbing victim is still in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
