Task force to guard govt. land near Masula port from sand excavation
Authorities in India's Krishna district have formed a special task force to prevent illegal sand mining near the Machilipatnam Port expansion site. The initiative uses CCTV surveillance and public reporting to protect government land designated for infrastructure development.

A special task force has been constituted with officials from the Revenue, Police, Mining and Machilipatnam Urba Development Authority (MUDA) Departments to prevent illegal mining and unauthorised excavation of sand in government lands and lands allotted for the expansion of Machilipatnam Port and its surrounding areas, said Machilipatnam RDO Sambasiva Rao.
The task force members conducted inspections in areas surrounding the port on Wednesday and checked whether any excavation was being carried out without the required permissions.
