TARATDAC urges T.N. govt. to increase monthly assistance, clear backlog of pending applications

Members of the Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC) gathered in front of the Madurai District Collectorate here on Tuesday to demand a sweeping overhaul of welfare measures for the State’s differently abled people.
Led by State president Wilson, the demonstration put forward a series of urgent demands, most notably a call to triple the monthly financial assistance to ₹6,000.
They also urged the administration to clear a two-year backlog of pending assistance orders for newly registered applicants and shift welfare fund distribution entirely from the Revenue Department to the dedicated Differently Abled Welfare Department.
Additionally, the association demanded universal free travel rights for all differently abled individuals on government buses.
Addressing the press during the demonstration, Mr. Wilson expressed frustration over the government’s inaction, noting that monthly assistance amounts have remained stagnant for four years.
