DODOMA: Tanzania has launched a National Migration Coordination Mechanism to bring government institutions and development partners under a more coordinated framework for managing migration and maximising its contribution to national development.
The mechanism, launched on Tuesday at Mabeyo Hall in Dodoma, was developed by the government in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The launch brought together government officials, United Nations representatives, IOM officials and other stakeholders involved in migration management.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Home Affairs Patrobas Katambi said effective migration management requires close cooperation among institutions because migration affects a wide range of national interests, including health, employment, development, investment and security.
