Tang Jie-Ee Wei withdraw from World Championships, Tien Ci-Chiew Sien promoted

Defending mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei have withdrawn from the 2026 BWF World Championships due to Ee Wei's ongoing recovery from an ACL injury. Malaysian pair Wong Tien Ci and Lim Chiew Sien have been promoted to the main draw as replacements.
Why it matters
The withdrawal of top-seeded players significantly alters the competitive landscape of the upcoming World Championships.
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will still be represented by two mixed doubles pairs at the World Championships in New Delhi from Aug 17-23 despite the withdrawal of defending champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.
Replacing them are world No. 43 Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien, who have earned a place in the main draw after initially being named on the reserve list. They will join husband-and-wife pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie in Malaysia's challenge.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed the changes in a statement on Wednesday (July 29).
