Tamil Nadu weavers among recipients of National Handloom Awards

The Union Ministry of Textiles has announced that three recipients from Tamil Nadu will receive the 2025 National Handloom Awards. The awards recognize excellence in design development, marketing, and traditional weaving techniques.

Tamil Nadu has three awardees who will receive the National Handloom Awards for 2025 on August 7.
A press release from the Union Ministry of Textiles said M.V. Gopinathan of Coimbatore will receive the award in the category of design development, Kovilvazhi Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society, Tiruppur, will get it for marketing of handloom products, and handloom weavers Annamalai Marimuthu and Kumaran Balaraman, of Tiruvannamalai, will get it for handwoven Kancheepuram silk sarees.
