Tamil Nadu to get six new nursing colleges, more seats in allied healthcare courses

Six new government nursing colleges, with 100 B.Sc. Nursing seats each, will be established at the Government Medical College, Tirunelveli; K.A.P. Viswanathan Government Medical College, Tiruchi; Government Medical College, Dharmapuri; Vellore Government Medical College; Government Medical College, Tiruvannamalai; and Government Medical College, Namakkal, an official release said on Friday.
No new government nursing college was established in Tamil Nadu after 2014. The Chief Minister had announced in the Assembly that additional seats would be created in nursing, pharmacy and allied healthcare courses at a cost of ₹351 crore. The Government Orders to implement the announcements were issued now, the release said.
In February this year, then Health Minister Ma. Subramanian had announced that six new government nursing colleges would come up in the State.
