Tamil Nadu makes a mark at Bharat Tex 2026

Tamil Nadu showcased its textile industry at the Bharat Tex 2026 event in New Delhi, securing significant interest from international buyers and investors. The state government is actively promoting technical textiles through subsidies and infrastructure development.

It illustrates India's efforts to expand its manufacturing footprint and modernize its textile sector to compete globally.
With the participation of more than 30 textile and apparel manufacturers, signing of MoUs, and the support of two Ministries, Tamil Nadu made a significant participation at Bharat Tex 2026 that concluded in New Delhi recently.
The fair attracted about 6,000 overseas buyers and a large number of domestic visitors. “The fair will certainly transform into an international event in the coming years. For the garment manufacturers who participated from Tiruppur, the response from overseas buyers is promising and will turn into orders,” said K.M. Subramanian, president of the Tiruppur Exporters Association.
The Southern India Textile Research Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Woolmark Company for a research project to promote use of wool as a blend with cotton.
In a State that has started exploring opportunities in fibres other than cotton, this is expected to open up new avenues.
