Tamil Nadu government doctors’ body hails Supreme Court order on super-speciality seats
The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association has welcomed a Supreme Court order regarding the allocation of super-speciality medical seats. The ruling involves the surrender of unfilled seats to the All India Quota, with provisions for some seats to revert to the state under specific conditions.

Welcoming the Supreme Court verdict on the medical courses’ super-speciality seats, the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) on Thursday (July 30, 2026) hoped, if the qualifying percentile is reduced following the second round of All India Quota (AIQ) counselling, around 75 to 100 seats could be available again for government doctors in Tamil Nadu.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the association thanked the Chief Minister “for securing the order.” Representatives of the association also met Health Minister K.G. Arunraj.

The Minister, in a post on X, said the association described the Supreme Court verdict as a significant and victorious judgement. TNGDA’s president A. Srinivasan and general secretary T. Kanagarajan along with other office bearers were present.
