Tamil Nadu CM Vijay inaugurates Aavin annex laboratory at Madhavaram Dairy unit

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated a new annexure laboratory at the Aavin dairy unit in Madhavaram to enhance milk quality testing. The facility is designed to conduct rigorous water and wastewater tests to meet international and national safety standards.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) inaugurated the newly-constructed annexure laboratory of Aavin’s State Central Laboratory at the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation’s Central Dairy in Madhavaram, Chennai.
He also inspected operations such as milk handling, distribution and packaging at the Madhavaram Dairy unit. According to an official release, the annexure lab was constructed at a cost of ₹2.23 crore and is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery.

The annexure laboratory will conduct drinking water tests in accordance with the standards of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and wastewater tests in accordance with the regulations of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), the release said.
