Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko announced that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has initiated plans to establish a multi-modal logistics hub and inland container depot in Tiruchi. The project aims to boost the region's export ecosystem by leveraging its connectivity to major ports and industrial centers.
Why it matters
The development of a logistics hub in Tiruchi is a significant infrastructure project intended to enhance industrial growth and trade efficiency in Central Tamil Nadu.
Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko on Saturday said Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had written a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stating that the State government would soon carry out a detailed study on establishing a multi-modal logistics hub (inland container depot) in Tiruchi.
Releasing the copy of the letter dated August 24, he said Mr. Vijay had thanked her, after the Union Finance Minister sought Mr. Vijay’s suggestions in the letter dated August 7 on the establishment of an inland container depot in Tiruchi and extended the support of the Union Ministry in this regard.
The infrastructure will certainly benefit the trade and industry in the region.
