The Tamil Nadu government plans to undertake renovation works and perform Thirukudamuzhukku (consecration) at 3,000 temples and restore 84 temple cars over the next five years, Finance Minister Marie Wilson announced on Wednesday (August 5, 2026).
Presenting the Revised Budget Estimates in the Legislative Assembly, he said the government would also upgrade basic amenities at temples that attract large numbers of devotees by providing safe drinking water, restrooms, bathrooms, accommodation, and other essential infrastructure.
