Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday (August 10, 2026) thanked all political parties for unanimously supporting the resolution in the Assembly making the rendering of Tamil Thai Vazhthu mandatory at the beginning of all government functions, including programmes in universities, schools, and public sector undertakings.
“Tamil is not just a language. It is a thought, culture, civilisation and our life; Tamil is our soul and our emotion,” he said in a social media post.
The Chief Minister said the historic resolution, aimed at protecting the uniqueness, antiquity, pride and special status of the Tamil language and preserving the sentiments of Tamils, was the highest form of respect that could be accorded to Tamil Thai (Tamil Mother).
