Take action against applicants making false statements in Forms-6, 6A, 7 and 8: Telangana CEO

Telangana's Chief Electoral Officer has ordered district officials to take legal action against individuals submitting false information in electoral forms. The directive follows reports of bulk, fraudulent applications for voter registration and deletion.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy directed District Election Officers (DEO) and Collectors to instruct Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to take action against applicants who made knowingly false statements or declarations in Forms-6, 6A, 7 and 8.
In a memo issued on Monday (October 5, 2026), he cited instances of bulk applications in Form-7 to EROs and allegations that the forms were not genuine have come to the CEO office’s notice.
He said inquiry has to be taken up under Rule 20 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, before action is taken as per provisions of Sections 31 of the Representation of People Act, 1950.
