The hotly contested Students’ Union elections for the 2026-27 academic year at the University of Hyderabad were won by the left combine, replacing the incumbent Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad-Sevalal Vidyarthi Dal (ABVP-SLVD).
The left alliance includes All India Students’ Association (AISA), Ambedkar Students’ Association (ASA), Democratic Students’ Union (DSU), Students’ Federation of India (SFI), and Tribal Student’s Forum (TSF).
Dilshada Raihan VP pursuing Ph.D. in Philosophy, representing SFI, was elected president. She secured a margin of over 450 votes over ABVP candidate Naresh P.
The elections were conducted on Monday (September 28, 2026) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the counting of votes began on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) and continued until around 3 a.m. the next day.
