The State government has ordered the preparation of a Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) for a Water Metro link between Chennai Central and Mamallapuram, about 55 km south of Chennai on the East Coast, and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for three new Metro Rail corridors in the city.

Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Ramesh, who moved the demands for grants of the Special Initiatives Department in the Assembly on behalf of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who holds the portfolio, on Friday said the orders were issued in June after the TVK-led government assumed office.
