T.N. Governmet earmarks ₹19 crore for Thirumoorthy Dam in Tiruppur for tourism infrastructure
The Tamil Nadu government has allocated ₹19 crore for tourism infrastructure development at the Thirumoorthy Dam in Tiruppur. The project includes building a 20-acre park and potentially resuming boating services to boost local tourism and the economy.

The largest portion of ₹19 crore out of ₹48 crore for the damsite tourism infrastructure project, in the 2026-27 Budget announcement, has been earmarked for Thirumoorthy Dam in Tiruppur district..
The rest of the allotment is for infrastructure development of Pechiparai Dam (₹ 13 crore) in Kanniyakumari district, KRP Dam (₹9 crore) in Krishnagiri district, and Kodiveri Dam (₹7 crore) in Erode district.
The Thirumoorthy Dam located at the foot of Thirumoorthy hills, along with the Panchalinga Falls and Amanalingeswarar Temple in the vicinity, attracts visitors in large numbers, particularly during weekends and holidays.
According to the Tourism Department, a park will be developed on an area of 20 acres at the Thirumoorthy Dam site. The Tiruppur district administration is also pursuing a proposal for resumption of boating at the dam at an expenditure of ₹81.5 lakh.
