Sydney Sweeney promotes Novig betting app with nude sports photos

Actress Sydney Sweeney is facing mixed reactions after appearing in a promotional campaign for the sports betting app Novig. While some critics argue the sexualized imagery undermines female athletes, Sweeney maintains the campaign is a light-hearted celebration of sports.
Why it matters
The controversy highlights ongoing tensions regarding the sexualization of women in sports marketing and the ethical debates surrounding the promotion of gambling platforms.
Actress and model Sydney Sweeney has raised eyebrows with her latest photoshoot, stripping down to promote a sports betting app by covering up with sports equipment instead of clothes.
The Euphoria star shared the campaign on social media on September 13, after an earlier nude video for gambling company Novig.
The advertisements feature Sweeney, 29, alongside a range of sporting equipment, including footballs, basketballs, tennis gear, hockey sticks and soccer balls with a “game-day” theme.
Sweeney captioned the post: “It’s gamedayyyy @novig”.
The advertisements have generated praise and criticism across social media.
“As a former athlete and a woman who has personally experienced sexualized comments, I’m genuinely disgusted and deeply disappointed by this campaign,” read the most liked comment on the video.
“We’ve spent years fighting to be seen and respected for our talent, strength, and achievements – not reduced to our bodies.”
