AFL team the Sydney Swans have stood down five players for the remainder of the season after reports of an alleged incident in Melbourne.
Players Riley Bice, Nick Blakey, Isaac Heeney, James Jordon and Chad Warner will not be considered for selection for the rest of the year, the club said in a statement.
“We respect there is an ongoing investigation by Victoria Police and the actions we have taken today are independent of this,” the club said.
The Swans sit second on the table heading into the final round of the regular season.
Earlier this week, police issued a statement saying they were investigating an alleged sexual assault on at a hotel where the Swans were reportedly staying.
