‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2026’ campaign kicks off today in Vizag
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is launching a month-long 'Swachhata Hi Seva–2026' campaign in Vizag, focusing on cleanliness, public awareness, and sanitation worker welfare. Led by Commissioner Ketan Garg, the initiative will promote waste segregation, home composting, and a mass 'shramdaan' on October 1st.

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will conduct the month-long ‘Swachhata Hi Seva–2026’ campaign, to begin on Thursday, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg stated in a release on Wednesday.
The campaign will be launched at 9 a.m. on Thursday at G.R. Nagar Colony in the GVMC East Zone. Special cleanliness drives, sanitation activities and public awareness programmes will be held as part of the launch.
Mr. Garg said the campaign would follow five key pillars: cleanliness of target units and public places; participation of students and youth through ‘Swachh Pathshala–Yuva for Swachhata’; health, safety and welfare of sanitation workers through ‘SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir’; public participation under ‘Jan Bhagidari for Swachhata’; and ‘Swachhata Se Samriddhi’, focusing on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, and prevention of single-use plastics.
