SVU trains police in DGCA-certified drone pilot course

Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) successfully concluded its drone pilot training programme for the first batch of police personnel on Friday (July 17, 2026).
The University’s Innovation Incubation Centre (IIC), in collaboration with Pune-based PBC AeroTech Private Limited, has been running the Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) drone flying programme for 20 personnel from the Tirupati district police.
The 12-day programme, including a dedicated five-day RPTO syllabus approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), was meticulously designed to equip police officers with both theoretical knowledge and practical flight capabilities.
The 14 hours of classroom training covered the Drone Rules 2021, principles of flight, aerodynamics, ATC procedures, meteorology, and risk assessment. This is in addition to three hours of simulator sessions, lab practices, drone assembly, hands-on dual flying, and solo flight maneuvers.
