Suspended DSP arrested on charges of harassing wife

The Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) police have arrested Jaffar Siddiq, a suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Paramakudi, in connection with a case registered on a complaint by his wife, who accused him of having relationships with several women and physically assaulting her.
Siddiq was arrested after eight hours of questioning at the Vellore CB-CID office. He was produced before the Vellore Special Court for cases under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and remanded in judicial custody on Thursday at Vellore Central Prison.
His wife, Shobana, lodged a complaint on August 4 alleging that Siddiq was involved with several women and assaulted her when she questioned him about the relationships. She also approached the Director General of Police office seeking his arrest.
