Suspected Poisoning: Ondo Police Begin Toxicology Tests After Reported Deaths In Odigbo

The affected areas include Odigbo, Araromi-Obu and Orita New Town.

The Ondo State Police Command says it has commenced an investigation into the reported deaths of some residents in parts of Odigbo Local Government Area of the state amid suspicions that the incidents may be linked to poisoning.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command said it was working with the Ondo State Government and relevant health authorities to determine the actual cause of the reported deaths.

The police said its personnel, including officers from the Police Medical Services, were collaborating with officials of the state Ministry of Health and Odigbo Local Government health authorities to gather information and evidence.

It added that medical and toxicological examinations were being conducted to determine whether any substance was responsible for the fatalities.
