Suspect arrested after vehicles at Toronto MP’s home set on fire
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with arson after vehicles at the home of Liberal MP Salma Zahid were set on fire. Police are still investigating the motive behind the incident, which caused no injuries.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after several vehicles outside a Scarborough MP’s home were set on fire last week.
Toronto police announced the arrest in a news release on Friday.
They said on the morning of Aug. 27, the suspect poured accelerant onto vehicles parked in the driveway of Liberal MP Salma Zahid’s residence near Bellamy Road North and Lawrence Avenue East.
He allegedly then ignited the accelerant, and two vehicles caught fire. Police said a third vehicle also suffered fire damage.
Police later released a video of the incident. Days later, on Aug. 30, police said they arrested a suspect.
He was identified on Friday as Roshvin Crofton. He has been charged with arson causing damage to property, mischief over $5,000, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of incendiary material, and failure to comply with probation. The charges have not been tested in court.
