NEW DELHI: CPM MP John Brittas on Wednesday alleged that BJP MP Sushmita Dev used a “derogatory” remark against him, accusing the former TMC and Congress leader of calling him a “lungi wala.”The issue was raised in the Rajya Sabha, where both leaders are MPs, triggering an uproar and prompting the House to adjourn till 2pm.“The other day, while I was speaking in the House, she made a derogatory remark, ‘lungi wala’, against me. I was wearing a dhoti, and I am proud to be a Malayali, proud to be a South Indian,” Brittas told ANI.The Rajya Sabha member added that while he was proud of his culture, such remarks amounted to “stereotypes” and were made in a “derogatory” manner."This is not acceptable. And I feel that the house should take a view on this that we have moved a privileged notice against her.
