Surveyor, middleman trapped for graft charge
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police arrested a land surveyor and a middleman for demanding a bribe to process a land patta application. The complainant reported the duo after they requested money to submit survey drawings.

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Police have trapped a surveyor and his conduit as they allegedly demanded ₹4,000 for recommending to the tahsildar for giving ‘patta’ for a land.
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police said G. Karuppasamy of Krishnapuram in Kadayanallur applied for ‘patta’ in July for the land on which he had built his house. After uploading his online application, Mr. Karuppasamy met surveyor Mariraj and told him about his pending application for ‘patta’.
After a month, one Jegadish of Kadayanallur met Mr. Karuppasamy and told him to apply afresh as the petitioner had wrongly mentioned the land’s survey number in the application. And, Mr. Karuppasamy submitted the second online application for ‘patta’ again on August 10.
