CADYVILLE, N.Y. (WCAX) - With diesel prices inching closer to $7 a gallon across parts of the region, independent truckers say soaring fuel costs and inadequate reimbursements are threatening to put their operations out of business.

Owner Joyce Huntley says this year marks 53 years in business. “Met my husband and we started trucking together; I just love trucks,” said Huntley, who took over the business after her husband, Ronald, died 17 years ago.
Since then, she’s seen the trucking industry go through hard times, with the Great Recession in 2008, the pandemic, and now, the war in Iran.
